Hi there, my name is Rachel. I dream and eat in color, and I mostly just do whatever The Food Network tells me to do. I am a Clinical Registered Dietitian (RD) at a large regional hospital by day, and at night, I am the one behind Food-ish.

I’m a big fan of food. I’ve been eating food for as long as I can remember, and I eat just about everything. I’ve enjoyed mountainside-grown vegetarian meals while staying at a Buddhist temple in South Korea, and I’ve licked my fingers clean of the fried chicken and waffles at Gladys Knight’s Signature Chicken & Waffles in the deep South. I’ve been swooned by spectacular vegan meals at Millennium in San Francisco, and once a year my selfless mother makes me a chocolate birthday cake so rich it almost makes your heart stop (thanks, Susan…because, people, that darn cake takes two whole days to make). I’ve eaten my way through the Taste of Chicago, and most nights I eat my way through my refrigerator (because let’s be real, the majority of my days I am just a regular human who has to eat her vegetables before they go bad).
I think it’s clear…food is a big part of my life (I mean, I made a career out of it as a nutritionist, right?), but it is not my whole life; it fuels what I want and need to do. My favorite gal Julia Child said it best, “life itself is the proper binge”.

Food-ish is sort of a food blog, definitely not a fashion blog, and was born to share the stuff I like: 1) food, 2) nutrition, and 3) life (in no particular order). I hope this site serves as a space to genuinely celebrate the magic of eating, of nourishing, and of living- especially the real and raw bits that are so easy to edit out, but I believe important to include.
I hope in a small way I can help empower you to feel joy in the way you eat, live, and tell the stories of both. There is so much on this earth I want to do and eat, and I hope you will join me in grabbing life- the wonderful, the delicious, the scary, the weird- and swallowing it whole.
